Redbank Communities, Roads and Maritime Services and Hawkesbury City Council are working together to prioritise plans and the approvals required to develop a new bridge crossing over the Grose River, connecting Grose River Road with Springwood Road at Yarramundi. We are currently investigating an option to build this bridge above the 1 in 100 chance per year flood level which would provide another option for access during a flood event.

    Council is currently exhibiting a Part 5 Application for the extension of Grose River Road, Grose Wold, the construction of a concrete bridge spanning the Grose River and the construction of a T-intersection at Springwood Road, Yarramundi.

    The Part 5 Application and supporting information is on public exhibition from Thursday, 12 May 2022 to Monday, 13 June 2022. All plans, details and related documents may be inspected online at

    www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au/grose-river-bridge-yarramundi or Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm at Council's Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor.

    This Part 5 Application has been lodged in response to the requirements of the Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) between Redbank Communities, Roads and Maritime Services and Hawkesbury City Council.

    The executed VPA requires an application for the construction of the bridge to be lodged with and determined by Council prior to development approval of residential lot number 801 within the Redbank estate. Should the Part 5 Application be approved, the construction of the bridge is required prior to the release of the construction (practical completion) of the residential lot number 1101.

    As part of the assessment process, the application has been referred to the relevant agencies for comment: Roads and Maritime Services, Natural Resources Access Regulator, Office of Environment and Heritage, Department of Primary Industries – Fisheries, and Crown Lands.

    Council will receive submissions in writing via www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au or addressed to the General Manager, by mail to Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 146 Windsor NSW 2756, or email to council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au quoting reference ‘PT50007/22’. Submissions may be made up until close of business on Monday, 13 June 2022.

    Proposed Development: Road and Road Infrastructure Facilities – Extension of Grose River Road, construction of a concrete bridge spanning the Grose River and the construction of a T-intersection at Springwood Road

    Location of Proposal: 1 Ashton Road (Lot 2 DP 1039224), 67A Nutmans Road (Lot 3 DP 1059691) and 166 Springwood Road (Lot 1 DP 235341)

    Hawkesbury City Council is in receipt of a Part 5 Application for the extension of Grose River Road, construction of a concrete bridge spanning the Grose River and the construction of a T-intersection at Springwood Road. The application has been submitted on behalf of Hawkesbury City Council and Council is the approval authority for the development.

    The Part 5 Application has been lodged in response to the requirements of the Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) between Redbank Communities, Roads and Maritime Services and Hawkesbury City Council.

    The application has been referred to Roads and Maritime Services, Natural Resources Access Regulator, Office of Environment and Heritage, Department of Primary Industries – Fisheries, and Crown Lands for comment.

    The Part 5 Application and supporting information will be on public exhibition for the period of 12 May 2022 to 13 June 2022.     During the exhibition period any person may make a submission in writing to Council in relation to the application, quoting reference ‘PT50007/22’. Where a submission by way of objection is made, the grounds for objection are to be specified in the submission. Should you lodge a submission, your views will be taken into account as part of our assessment and a reply will be forwarded to you when the application is determined.

    Please note that confidentiality is not available to objectors. The details of any submissions may be included in a Council report or forwarded to external parties where it may help to resolve design or operational problems. Information (including copies of submissions) may also be released in accordance with Council Policy for Access to Information.

    A meeting to update the community on the Grose River Bridge will be held on Thursday, 11 April.

    This meeting will be held at the North Richmond Public School Hall, 14 Grose Vale Road, North Richmond at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm). On street parking is available.
