Hawkesbury City Council plays a crucial role in shaping the future of our region. We provide over 50 services and facilities to more than 68,156 residents living in urban and rural communities spread across an area of 2,776 square kilometres, roughly the same size as the Sydney metropolitan area.

This large area, with its many towns and villages, makes communicating with our Hawkesbury community challenging. When we are communicating with our community we are dealing with a complex and diverse range of audiences who are often passionate about the place they have chosen to live in.

The community is at the heart of everything we do. Good communication and engagement will help us improve the delivery of our service, and inform, empower and connect our community. We know that communicating with our community needs to be at the core of what we do, and we want to do it better.

This Draft Communication and Engagement Strategy has been prepared as a framework to support all of Council’s plans, programs, and key activities, as part of Council’s commitment to encourage open, transparent and active relationships between Council and the community. The strategy builds on Council’s ongoing activities and actions implemented as part of the 2021-2025 Communication and Engagement Strategy.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

What we heard from the 600 community members we engaged with was that a multiple layered approach which reflects the specific needs of our diverse community is required when we are communicating. The are five themes which emerged as the key opportunities for Council's engagement activities.

    1. Newsletter - Print and Digital
    2. Social Media
    3. Website
    4. Online Engagement Platform
    5. Face to Face Engagement

For more information, refer to page 32 of the Draft Communications and Engagement Strategy.

We want to hear from you, please provide your feedback on whether these themes reflect on the way you would like Council to continue to communicate with you.
