Hawkesbury City Council has recently prepared the Draft Hawkesbury Rural Lands Strategy. The objectives of the Draft Hawkesbury Rural Lands Strategy are to:

• Identify the economic, environmental and social opportunities for the preservation, management and enhancement of rural lands within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area for the future, with in-depth consideration of the impact of the climate change;

• Prepare a Strategy that will be the guiding document for the future planning, development and management of rural lands within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area;

•Prepare a Strategy that will inform robust decision making and outcomes for planning proposals, development

• Prepare a Strategy that will be the guiding document for the future planning, development and management of rural lands within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area;

•Prepare a Strategy that will inform robust decision making and outcomes for planning proposals, development applications and a review of broader strategic plans such as the Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 2012;

• Prepare a Strategy that will provide appropriate land use planning controls reflective of the circumstances of Hawkesbury’s rural lands taking into account the impacts of emerging pressures and opportunities. The Draft Hawkesbury Rural Lands Strategy includes Key Recommendations focused on:

  • Growth Management
  • Rural Lands Preservation
  • Economic Development
  • Land Use Planning

At its meeting on 8 December 2020, Council resolved to place the Draft Hawkesbury Rural Lands Strategy on public exhibition. The Draft Hawkesbury Rural Lands Strategy and other supporting documentation is on public exhibition for the period Friday 18 December 2020 to Monday 15 February 2021.

Council would welcome the opportunity to engage with and seek feedback from all stakeholders regarding the Draft Rural Lands Strategy. Written submissions in relation to the Draft Strategy can be:

The last day for the receipt of submissions is Monday 15 February 2021.

Should you lodge a submission, it will be considered, along with any other submissions received and may be included in Council’s meeting business paper. Your submission, including any personal information, is accessible by any person upon written application, subject to Council’s Privacy Management Plan and the GIPA Act. The inclusion of personal information in your submission is voluntary but, if not provided, may affect consideration of the submission. The information will ultimately be stored in Council’s records system.
