What is a place plan?
A place plan is a long-term plan that provides a road map to guide future planning in our centres.
Place plans have an important role in determining the look, feel and function of the village centre environment. It guides and covers things like the built form, design, land use zones, open space, public domain improvements, road safety and heritage protections. The Village Centre Place Plan will provide input into planning controls, grant applications and use of Council resources.
Why has Bilpin, Kurmond and Kurrajong been chosen for place plans?
Council is undertaking place planning for all town and village centres in the Hawkesbury LGA as part of Council’s Local Environmental Plan update.
How will my feedback be considered?
Feedback from early engagement activities will be used to understand what people like about the centre as well as some of the challenges facing the community and local business.
Additional feedback will be sought from the community once the draft Place Plans have been prepared. Once it is ready, Council will exhibit the plan, allowing the community to provide feedback and have their say on the plan. This is expected to occur in the second half of 2022.
How will a place plan be used?
The aim of this plan is to improve the sense of place, ensure local business has the conditions to thrive, and create a place that the community can be proud of. The plan will provide Council with a strategic basis to consider community ideas or proposal and direct resources and investment to where the community needs it.
The plan will aim towards improving the look and feel of the centre by:
